Celebrations

Yesterday I turned 30. There. I said it. It's not a big deal, right? Well, I don't feel 30, so that's what matters. I got Dave Matthews Band tickets. Thanks, Beeler crew! And thanks to everyone else who made it a good day. Tomorrow I'll go out and celebrate with J.Paul. We'll also celebrate his last day of second year dental! We made it! (well, he still has exams next week)

Anyways, at this significant birthday, my thoughts turned back to some other fun birthdays I've had. Let's take a trip back through time to some of these highlights. Unfortunately, my parents very rarely took pictures, and I don't have a scanner, so you'll just have to visualize them in your mind.

Birthday # 5 (I'm actually not sure about the age. Maybe "the smurf" will remember)
I had a good friend named Holly Hutchison who had the exact same birthday as me, so for many years we shared a birthday party. This particular party was in my backyard and was a smurf party. We actually had a smurf show up! This smurf was my older brother Chad, in white pants and blue body paint. It was smurf-a-riffic!

Birthday #16
I woke up and stumbled out of bed, grabbed my towel and headed for the shower. I opened the shower curtain and tons of balloons came pouring out. Kudos to my mom! That night I went to musicfest with my first would-be boyfriend, Ben, my sister, and Pam. Very fun sweet 16.

Birthday #19
I was in my first year of school at Southern Utah University. My roomies took me out to the local pizza and pasta place and Jenn requested "Pour Some Sugar on Me". That weekend the Bunker boys came in town and we went to the fair. Well, first we ate birthday cake, then went to the fair. Bad combination.

Birthday #23
I had just been home from my mission for 3 months. J.Paul and I were not together at that time but he asked me out for my birthday. He took me to eat at J.Alexanders and then we were supposed to be doing something secret he had planned, but he had forgotten something special at his house. So we went back to get it. A suprise party was waiting for me at his house. I was completely suprised.

Thanks for celebrating with me! What a great 30 years it's been.

Hey Marlena! Happy late Birthday! I'm not sure if you remember me...Sister (Yvonne) Bohne. I was your beehive advisor in Vegas before your moved to Memphis. It's good to see you all grown up and as a wife and mommy. Hope your day was fantastic.
