Fire

We visited the fire station for a playgroup. Amzie was a little nervous about the whole thing but I guess she learned a few things because later that evening when I was cooking dinner and she and Evan were on the back patio I heard her saying, while demonstrating, STOP, DROP and ROLL! Then later when she was saying the prayer she said "thank you for my friends, that they won't get fired."

Underdressed

J.Paul's school had a formal last weekend. I wasn't able to go last year, but I heard it really wasn't a "formal", guys wear just a button-up shirt and tie. After making a few trips dress-shopping and buying four dresses, I ended up choosing the least-dressy one. It was the one that I felt most comfortable in. I dressed it up a little more with some black sparkly jewelry, my black strappy sandals, and I was good to go. We had a fun night out. We went to a restaurant called Encore in the Peabody Place. It was really yummy and I recommend it for a special occasion or if you just want to eat downtown. Then we headed off to the dance. We walked into the dance and that's when I started feeling a little uncomfortable. I was definitely underdressed.
It reminds me of a time...
I was a freshman in college. In Cedar City there was one little club that we, of course, frequented. One night they had Retro Night. Carolyn had this cute, all white sparkly leisure suit-type outfit that I wore that night. We walked into the club and were meeting up with friends, talking, hanging out, when a girl we knew walked up and whispered to me to look down. I looked down at myself and, in horror, realized that you could see straight through this white outfit. There were black lights in the club and basically it just looked like I was standing there in my bra and underwear. Underdressed? Understatement. Luckily my roomie Heidi was nice enough to hand her car keys off to me so I could go home and change, and sulk. Yeah, it's funny now.
(unfortunately I don't have pictures of either event, or maybe it's not so unfortunate)

Random Pictures

I recently downloaded a bunch of pictures from my mother-in-law's camera. They are a few months old, some even going back to December, but there are a few jewels I had to share.

This is at J.Paul's grandparent's Christmas party. This picture was taken of Amzie's earrings that she got, but we later realized something else. Do you remember the post I did about Amzie cutting her hair? Well, this is the freshly cut hair, do you see the chunk of hair hanging by a thread?

Amzie and Evan riding on Amzie's new 4-wheeler on Christmas eve. How do you like Amzie's footie pajamas with shoes? Nice.

Playing Grandpa's guitar. Amzie is seriously singing.Amzie getting beautiful for Easter day.

Man (baby) of many hats

Evan has always loved hats. Anytime someone's hat is around he'll pick it up and wear it for a while. Of course it's so cute. He has recently started to do the same thing with gloves, but I don't have any pics of that now.

Been in Forks...

Okay, I haven't been blogging lately because I've been too busy reading the Twilight books. I resisted for a long time because, come on, a book about vampires? But I now have to admit, I am a Twilight fan, maybe not a Twilight junkie, but definitely a fan. These books are very fun to read. So now that I've read all three, I will try to do some posting soon...that is til August (when the 4th and final book comes out.)

St. John, part 3 - Finally the stuff you want to see

Welcome to paradise! J.Paul and I spent most of our time, well, where else but the beach? Most days we ate breakfast at the villa, packed a lunch and headed out, spent all day beachin', then ate some great seafood out. Perfect and relaxing.

This was our first day at Hawksnest beach. The video was supposed to be a picture but I'm glad we made a mistake so we could see the beautiful ocean.

Hiking to Honeymoon and Salomon Bays with Cruz bay in the background.
Salomon - one of our very favorites.

On our way to dinner. By the way, this is my newest hairdo, which I really like.

This was at a beach called Drunk Bay. This was a very rocky beach, as you can see, and all over the big rocks, people had made little figurines of people with the rocks. Can you see them? It was a little eerie. On peace hill in windmill ruines. There used to be a giant statue of Christ right next to these ruines but it got knocked down in a hurricane a few years back.

Our last day, on famous Trunk Bay. Absolutely lovely beach. J.Paul snorkeled aroud that cay behind us.

Below: J.Paul snorkeling in Waterlemon Cay. This is where we saw a giant sea turtle, a ray, and a shark (a small shark). In one of his other excursions J.Paul also saw an octopus.

Goodbye, paradise. We will be back.

Reservation (read the next post before watching the video)

When I told this story to my friend Greg he reminded me of this Seinfeld episode. Perfect. Apparently this happens a lot, unfortunately.

St. John, part 2 - Reservations

When we arrived in St. Thomas we were on a time crunch. We had to rent our car and get to the ferry to St. John. If we didn't get to the ferry on time, we would be stuck in St. Thomas for the night with no place to stay and we weren't sure if the last ferry left at 6 or 7 pm. We decided to split up since we were in a hurry. I went to pick up the luggage while J.Paul went to get the car. We had a reservation with Budget but when I went to meet J.Paul, I found him at the Avis counter. Here's what he told me. He got in the long Budget line and just a couple minutes later the lady working at the counter actually got up on the counter and announced that they only had 5 cars left. J.Paul said "But I have a reservation." She then said it didn't matter, she only had 5 cars left. There were only 2 other car rental places and neither one had anyone at the counter. As J.Paul was standing there in panic mode, the Avis worker came out to her counter. A few people hurried over, including J.Paul. He was 3rd in line. The Avis lady said she had 3 cars. Hallelujah! We got into our car and hurried to the ferry, only to get lost a few times. We finally arrived to catch the 6:30 ferry. Luckily, the last ferry was at 7:00, not 6:00. And then, we were off to paradise...
