St. John, part 2 - Reservations

When we arrived in St. Thomas we were on a time crunch. We had to rent our car and get to the ferry to St. John. If we didn't get to the ferry on time, we would be stuck in St. Thomas for the night with no place to stay and we weren't sure if the last ferry left at 6 or 7 pm. We decided to split up since we were in a hurry. I went to pick up the luggage while J.Paul went to get the car. We had a reservation with Budget but when I went to meet J.Paul, I found him at the Avis counter. Here's what he told me. He got in the long Budget line and just a couple minutes later the lady working at the counter actually got up on the counter and announced that they only had 5 cars left. J.Paul said "But I have a reservation." She then said it didn't matter, she only had 5 cars left. There were only 2 other car rental places and neither one had anyone at the counter. As J.Paul was standing there in panic mode, the Avis worker came out to her counter. A few people hurried over, including J.Paul. He was 3rd in line. The Avis lady said she had 3 cars. Hallelujah! We got into our car and hurried to the ferry, only to get lost a few times. We finally arrived to catch the 6:30 ferry. Luckily, the last ferry was at 7:00, not 6:00. And then, we were off to paradise...
