What I'm Gonna Do in 2009

I hope the fact that it has taken me so long to post these goals is no indication of how well I will do with these goals. I just have a few for the year. I'm the type of person that can't focus on too many things as once (like you guys didn't know that).

First - my short term goals:
1. I am going to run a half-marathon in April. I am in my fourth week of a 16 week training program. Last Saturday I ran 7 miles. Do you know how it feels to run seven miles straight?... It feels GOOD! (and it's really tiring) In case you didn't know, a half-marathon is 13.1 miles.

2. Potty train Evan. Eww. Just like the rest of humanity, I loathe potty training. But once it's over, I am so much happier. Just think of what I can do with all that money I'm spending on diapers and wipes (insert evil cackle here). As soon as we're out of diapers, the training will commence. Wish me luck!

(at least I already know he's excited to wear his Thomas underwear. Now I just have to teach him to wear them under the clothes.)

Long term goals:

1. Family Home Evening Every Week. Our church has a program called Family Home Evening. Basically it is just a time you set aside each week to spend with your family. Ours is on Monday and what we do is pray, sing, discuss things we believe are important, and have an activity. While this is a "Mormon" practice, people of any faith can do it. It's all about setting aside time and interacting with your family. We hardly ever did Family Home Evening before but since the new year we are 3 for 3! For now, our lessons are only about 5 minutes (short attention spans), but I can already see that Amzie is digging it and looking forward to our family time.

2. Eat more fruits and vegetables. I know this isn't a very specific, measurable goal, but I am leaving it at that. We're going to start small. This is going pretty well so far. I have been making changes in our diet little by little, but this is the one that is the hardest for us.

I know these aren't a whole lot of goals, but I am excited about doing these things and sticking to them! Maybe in a couple months I can re-evaluate and add some more things.

Hey I like your goals! I think I'll just copy them. Half marathon and all. Oh, except the potty training. I'm totally good not venturing into that world for a while longer! Evan is always so cute!

Love the photo of Evan! Good job on the 7 mile run. My friend is trying to talk me into a half marathon. She even offered me a double joggger. I'm running out of excuses...

you can do all this, and it will feel so good! I hope Evan buys into the potty training goal soon.

Not a lot of goals? Just the half marathon goal would have been more than enough for me. 7 miles already . . . WOW! Good luck.
Love you, Cousin Lisa

Way to Go, girlie! I think your goals are absolutely attainable and realistic given that somethings are already in place (like your running habit).

Also, could Ev get any dang cuter?!? What a sweet boy!

May I suggest a goal for the coming year? Maybe I should have suggested this years ago. How about no more laughing at your own jokes? Or maybe laugh at them only when they are funny. That is just two different ways of saying the same thing.

Reed, I could never make the goal to stop laughing at my own jokes because I'm trying to make goals that are attainable. That goal is unattainable because my jokes are just too funny to not laugh at... oh, and also because it sounds much better than dead silence after I make a joke.
Wanna run 7 miles with us Saturday?
(Unless you're afraid you can't hang...)

My goals are remarkably like yours, right down to the picture of Evan in Thomas underwear. Oh how Joe loves Thomas. I could just copy and paste this post and call my resolution post done. (but I won't, promise)
I'd love potty training updates. I'm psyching myself up to start with Joseph. Ugh!
